My friends and clients query me on what I do. I tell them I'm an entrepreneur. They ask if I learned to be an entrepreneur at Babson College because Babson has been rated the #1 entrepreneurial college in the country. I want to answer with "do people go to Berkley School of Music to learn to be a musician?" The truth is you would only want to go to Berkley if you loved music. And you would only get accepted if you were already great and the admissions staff saw your passion for music.
So the answer is "No." i did not learn to be an entrepreneur at Babson College. I went there because it was the only college that made sense to me. What I learned there were concepts and processes that enabled me to harness my entrepreneur nature.
What I did learn there is I love marketing. I love transactions. And I really love good transactions where ALL parties "WIN." That's why I couldn't be a stock broker as expected. The broker always WINS and the client wins or loses.
Since 1986 I have managed projects. Growing mortgage companies, growing real estate companies, adding value to multifamily apartment communities, renovating residential properties, founding successful online apartment communities, launching web initiatives are all projects that have shaped my career and life.
Since college I have never had a job. I have always had managed projects that must be completed. Some have failed. most have succeeded.
